Value Equation
My knowledge base is in cardiovascular ultrasound and business management. I am skilled in leading projects and working with numbers. My talents lie in leading, mentoring and encouraging others. I have had some great mentors over the years, combined with learning in both formal and information settings, to foster continuous learning. I continue to learn and grow, while being stretched managing workgroups across two different hospital sites for our healthcare system. I believe in constantly re-inventing oneself to maintain relevance in an every changing healthcare setting.

Last winter, I embarked on a journey to begin running. This was quite a task as it was something I had not done in a serious manner for more than 25 years. I knew immediately that I would have to expand my knowledge base and improve my skill level.
I set out to read everything I could find in both print and electronic media. I also gained knowledge by learning from others through various social media sites. Additionally, I connected with friends and family members who are runners themselves.
I learned the importance of proper nutrition, hydration, stretching, pacing, breathing and rest/recovery times. I learned the value of having the appropriate gear and invested in shoes and other paraphernalia. I set goals and worked diligently to reach them. What started as the ability to run only from lamp post to lamp post soon became the ability to run 1 mile, then 2, then 3. My pinnacle event was running 5 miles in the hot and humid conditions of the south. I joked (seriously) that it was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life! The lessons learned in that running venture taught me that I can do anything and everything that I put my mind to, as long as I develop a well thought out plan and stick to it even on the hardest of days.
